Hanoi

Propaganda was strong in Hanoi. This was Ho Chi Minh's home base for a while, so his body is here. We also saw the lake where John McCain's plane went down and lots of photos of the locals rescuing him and doctors taking good care of him. For some reason, they made it sound like the only people the prisons were bad for were the Vietnamese on the other side of the war. The Americans had fun celebrating Christmas together and playing sports in the courtyard.

Don't get me wrong, though. The people were friendly and we had a great time.

Street veggies Birthday dinner
One of our first street markets, and a super tasty birthday dinner out on the street.
A couple tourist highlights that we thoroughly enjoyed -- the table where Obama and Bourdain ate bun cha together, and Train Street, where you better watch your toes if you're sitting on ground level.
